Based on historical evidences, cabbage cultivation started in the Mediterranean region, specifically modern day Turkey and Greece 4000 years ago. It later spread to other parts of Europe and the world.

At Agrotonomy Tower Farm, we use our innovative vertical farming system to grow cabbages on aeroponic towers. We start by planting the seeds, which takes about 7 days to germinate. Then, it will take around 60 to 70 days (depending on the weather) for the cabbage to reach full maturity and becomes ready for harvest.

Aside from the traditional round cabbages, we also grow conehead cabbages. Conehead cabbages are known for their unique shape. They also have a mild and sweet flavor.

When vertical farming on aeroponic towers, the plants are less accessible to pests since they are growing off the ground. However, if there are cabbage worms and moths, we use thuricide, which is a highly effective and completely natural solution. It offers a great alternative to protect plants from pests in a safe and nature-friendly way.

Cabbages are a bit difficult to pull out when harvesting. After we get them from the aeroponic towers, we cut the exterior leaves, which are absolutely huge and edible. We use them in stir-fries, sautés, or salads.

Long ago, ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans cultivated cabbages. Aside from using them in cooking, they also used it for medicinal purposes. Nowadays, people from different cultures also like eating cabbages as they offer a lot of uses in recipes and health benefits.

Through our sustainable vertical farming method, we were able to grow 18 cabbages on a single aeroponic tower within a limited space of less than one square meter.
