There are actually six main types of hydroponic techniques used in commercial farming:

• Aeroponics
Aeroponics is a type of hydroponics. When farming with an aeroponic system, whether using stacked trays or Tower Garden technology, it is still a hydroponic system regardless of its ‘aeroponic label’.
At Agrotonomy, we refer to aeroponics as to be ‘hydroponics on steroids’! With aeroponics, contrary to the five other types of hydroponic systems, the roots have 100% oxygen availability. Considering that oxygen is a key factor for nutrient intake at the root level, crops grown on an aeroponic system will feature an increase in nutrient density and flavonoid values.
Often times, people wonder whether the Tower Garden is a hydroponic tower or an aeroponic tower. It is both! The Tower Garden is a hydroponic tower and it is an aeroponic growing system as well. Some people refer to the Tower Garden as a hydroponic tower or a hydroponic column. Some others call it an aeroponic tower… It is all correct since aeroponics is a branch of hydroponics.
