Broccoli is a cold weather crop, meaning that it grows best in soil with temperatures between 65 F. and 75 F. (18-24 C.). When it gets warmer than that, the broccoli will bolt (as shown in the picture), or in other terms, it will start flowering.
When the temperature rises above 24°C/ 65°F, we advise you to harvest your broccoli when the plants are very young thus preventing them from bolting.
Broccolis grow large plants featuring lots of leaves which can obstruct the light of the upper planting sections. This has to be an important consideration in your planting strategy.
Like when growing cabbages, cauliflowers and Brussels sprouts, we only recommend growing broccolis using an aeroponic tower from an experimental standpoint only.
In fact, the crop yield of aeroponic broccoli is much weaker than when planted in the soil.
Furthermore, Aside from taking up lots of nutrients over the course of several months, aeroponic broccolis grown in the soil are fuller and more flavorful (much sweeter).
